Dr. Max K. Smith, DVM
Dr. Smith was born and raised in Kankakee, IL and attended the University of Illinois. After receiving his DVM degree in 1979 he immediately joined Village East Animal Hospital and has been here ever since. He has a daughter Katie that is in Pre-Vet at Purdue University and a son that goes to Harrison High School. He has been married to his wife Julie for 33 years. He has a dog named Annie and 2 cats, Penelope and Owie. He has a special interest in ophthalmology.
Dr. William Melchiors, DVM
Bill is a native of Evansville and grew up 1 block from the office. He actually worked as a "kennel assistant" while in high school at Memorial. He received his DVM from Purdue and joined Village East both in 1982. He and his wife have a high school daughter, Abbie and a son that is in college named Ben. Bill loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking and kayaking.
Dr. Jill Kemp, DVM
Jill was born in Peterborough England and still maintains her English citizenship. She was raised in the Columbus, IN area before going on to Purdue. She received both her undergraduate and DVM degrees from Purdue University. Dr. Jill is not married but has 5 black cats to keep her company. Their names are Sooty, Scooter, Zebedee, Alex, and Toby. Jill enjoys hiking, biking, and gardening but her real love as a hobby is volleyball.
Dr. Laura Bakowski, DVM
Laura was born in Detroit, MI before relocating to the Marion, IN area. She attended Oak Hill High School before going on to Purdue University where she attended undergraduate as well as completing her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Laura is married and has 2 young daughters, Drew and Riley. She has 2 dogs Ollie and Takeo, as well as 2 cats, Tiger and Boo. When time allows she enjoys the beach, snorkeling, and scuba diving. She also enjoys spending time with her family.
