The Village East team of skilled veterinarians welcomes you to our practice. Proudly serving the Evansville area since 1975. At Village East it is our daily privilege to provide quality vet care to your cherished pet, with compassion and competence. We hope to ensure a positive impact on our patients, pet owners and the local community.

Dr. Max K. Smith, DVM

Dr Smith was born and raised in Kankakee and attended University for Illinois graduating from Veterinary School in 1979. He joined Village East immediately after graduation has been here nearly 40 years. Dr Smith has been married to his lovely wife Julie for more than 4 decades. Their daughter Katie is a veterinarian that graduated from Purdue and his son Kevin is medical School at IU.(Divided house?) He has a dog name Annie that loves the water and even goes "tubing" behind the boat in the summer. He also has an elderly large orange tabby cat named Owie.

Dr. William Melchiors, DVM

Bill is a native of Evansville and grew up 1 block from the office. He actually worked as a "kennel assistant" at Village East while in high school at Memorial. He received his DVM from Purdue and joined Village East both in 1982. He and his wife have 2 grown children.  A daughter Abbie and a son Ben. Bill loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking and kayaking.

Dr. Jill Kemp, DVM

Jill was born in Peterborough England and still maintains her English citizenship. She was raised in the Columbus, IN area before going on to Purdue. She received both her undergraduate and DVM degrees from Purdue University. Dr. Jill has 2 black cats to keep her company. Their names are Chewy and Bucky. Jill enjoys hiking, biking, and gardening but her real love as a hobby is volleyball.

Dr. Tara Foldenhauer, DVM

Dr. Tara Foldenauer came to us in Feb 2015. Born and raised in Northwest Indiana, she graduated from Saint Joseph's College in 1995 with a combined degree in Biology and Chemistry, and then graduated from Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She knew she was going to be a veterinarian since she was about 5 years old and taking care of all the animals on her family's farm. Outside of work, Dr. Tara enjoys most anything outside activities including, vegetable and flower gardening, hiking, college football season, and traveling. These days her extra time is spent with her family... husband, 5 year old twins, her golden retriever Sully and cats Ladybug and Clover.

Dr. Sachiko Miyakawa, DVM

Dr. Sachiko Miyakawa was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. Although surrounded by beautiful farms and horses, she fell in love with companion animals, specifically dogs and cats. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, she received her DVM degree from Auburn. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, Chewy and Misha. She also enjoys traveling, walking and discovering new hiking trails.

Dr. Michelle Hughes, DVM
